I built this online course for two reasons;

First, I wanted/needed to develop content that would reach a new, younger generation of Dallas Firefighters. Over the past decade, we have become an extremely "young" department, with roughly 50% of our members in the field having less than five years of service! What I didn't realize was that this is also several other department's stories, and so although this was built initially for the Dallas Firefighter, it's also being utilized by members and departments all across North America.

Second, Rick is a legend here in Dallas. Decades before The Roll Steady, he led a grassroots effort

to train up the next generation of Dallas firefighters. It only made sense that before Rick retired in 2020, we worked to capture his knowledge and make it available to current and future generations.

In August, Rick retired from Dallas Fire-Rescue with 38 years of service… 30 of which were driving Engine 24 on the C-Shift! You read that correctly… 30 years driving Engine 24 on the C-Shift!!! And, although our physical paths had not crossed until recently (typical for a department our size), I can tell you that Rick's reputation and influence are something very few of us have not been impacted by here in Dallas. You're about to witness a true legend! A man committed to the fire service and his brothers and sisters here in Dallas. I'm honored to share this knowledge with you. My only ask is that you pass it on. Train those around you and continue the efforts Rick started decades ago.
